TANIM: Polyglycolic Acid is a sterile, absorbable, braided and coated surgical suture. The surgical suture is manufactured from polyglycolic acid. The formula of polyglycolic acid is (-O-CH2-CO-O-CH2-CO-)n. The braided structure of the suture is coated. The coated suture is prepared from a mixture of poly(glycolide(%30)-co-L-lactide(%70)) and calcium stearate.
When sutures made of poliglycolic acid are inserted into a living organism, they are absorbed by that organism and do not cause excessive tissue irritation. The polymer and calcium stearate mixture is non-antigenic and non-pyrogenic and only a mild tissue reaction occurs during absorption.
Polyglycolic Acid has excellent ease of use and knot properties with minimal tissue reaction. Sutures are dyed purple (D&C Violet No.2 (Cl. # 60725)) to ensure visibility in tissue. Also available undyed.
Polyglycolic Acid meets all requirements defined in the European Pharmacopoeia (EP) and the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP) for absorbable synthetic sutures.
KULLANIM AMACI: Polyglycolic Acid is generally used for soft tissue approximation and/or ligation and eye (ophthalmic) surgery. Not for use in cardiovascular and neurological tissues.
For single use only.
